Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni could be on the hot seat after failing to get his team past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.
The Eagles are out of the playoffs following a 32-9 loss, having suffered a shocking collapse on the heels of a 10-1 start to the season.
While speaking to reporters after the defeat, Sirianni was quizzed on his job security with the team and insisted he wasn’t thinking about himself but was feeling for his players.
“I’m not thinking about that,” he said, per CBS. “I’m thinking about the guys. Again, there’s a lot of guys in that locker room, all the guys in that locker room, every single one of them that put their heart and soul into this. I’m not worried about me.”
“I’m just trying to be there for our guys and our staff right now through a tough time. Obviously, we didn’t finish anywhere near we wanted to finish. My heart feels for these guys. We’re all taking it hard, and that’s where my mind is right now.”
Sirianni has taken the Eagles to the playoffs for three consecutive years and they came close to winning the Super Bowl at the end of last season. But it appears the loss of coordinators Jonathan Gannon and Shane Steichen did some damage he will have to repair if he sticks around.
