Before the Super Bowl kicked off between the Eagles and Chiefs — head coach Nick Sirianni could be seen with a face full of tears. Cameras caught him crying during the national anthem.
Social media loved it, but they also made him into a meme as well.
Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles came up short in Super Bowl LVII on Sunday night in Arizona, losing to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-35.
Days later, he is not revealing why he was so emotional.
“I’ve dreamed about this since I’ve been two years old,” Sirianni said, via ProFootballTalk. “I said to our guys, ‘Some of you guys have been dreaming about this since you’ve been two, some of you since you’ve been in peewee football, some of you since high school, college, or even when you got to the pros. But we’ve all been dreaming of it.’ So it’s just emotional in that moment knowing where we were at that moment.”
As cameras caught him crying, it was Country singer Chris Stapleton singing ‘Star Spangled Banner’ prior to the Philadelphia Eagles kick-off against the Kansas City Chiefs.
