One of the most anticipated Week 1 matchups in the NFL will be Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers facing off against his old team in the Cleveland Browns. The matchup won’t have the same feel since the QB that was traded to replace Mayfield is suspended for eleven weeks.
Mayfield’s former teammate, Browns running back Nick Chubb, hinted that the reunion could be plenty intriguing.
When asked what he expects of Mayfield in Sunday’s season-opening matchup, Chubb gave a blunt response.
“We all know Baker, so I don’t know what to expect,” he told reporters Wednesday.
Mayfield had an up-and-down tenure as the Browns quarterback. His inconsistency is the reason why he is no longer in Cleveland. When he was good, he led the team to a playoff spot and Wild card win, but when he was bad, he making terrible passes and losing numerous games that should’ve been won.
As Chubb stated, you never know what to expect when Mayfield is under center, and just because he’s with a new franchise now, doesn’t mean that aspect of his game has changed.

Earlier this preseason, Mayfield reportedly said “I’m gonna f–k them up” in reference to his former team, but later denied that those words came out of his mouth.
Mayfield will welcome his former squad to Bank of America Stadium for an exciting Week 1 matchup this Sunday.
