Nick Chubb’s name is trending on social media for all the wrong reasons this week.
That is because Georgia officials are looking into accusations allegedly made by Rush Propst that the Bulldogs paid players, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Propst claimed both Georgia coach Kirby Smart and Alabama head coach Nick Saban are allegedly paying players using wealthy donors and boosters.
He also said that the Bulldogs paid former running back Nick Chubb $180,000 in three installments of $60,000 each to return to Georgia for his senior season in 2017.
The Browns running back responded to the allegations when he took to Twitter Monday to dispute the charge by Valdosta (Georgia) High School football coach Rush Propst that he received $180,000.
“If i needed money i would have went pro #fakenews’’ Chubb tweeted.
Chubb rushed for 1,345 yards as a senior and helped lead the Bulldogs to the National Championship Game, where they lost in overtime to the Alabama Crimson Tide.
