On Sunday night, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa decided to photobomb his teammates while wearing a “Make America Great Again” cap, which brought back memories of Colin Kaepernick.
In 2016, Colin Kaepernick shook up the sports world with his protest during the national anthem. His kneeling during the National Anthem was meant as an objection to racism and police brutality.
He was told to shut up, play football, and keep politics out of sports.
Fast forward eight years later, and San Francisco star Nick Bosa was widely praised for his endorsement of a presidential candidate, Republican nominee Donald Trump.
Back when Colin Kaepernick made his gesture, Nick Bosa certainly had something negative to say about Kaepernick, as a resurfaced tweet for August 2016 showed him calling the former quarterback a “clown.”

Nick Bosa stated he had to delete that tweet when he realized he might get drafted by the 49ers.
He also apologized for it, claiming he wasn’t blasting him for kneeling.
“It wasn’t directed toward that,” Bosa said.
“It’s not like I’m saying his stance and what he was doing – that’s not what I was talking about at all. It was just a specific thing that happened, and me, as a young kid, a thought popping into my head and, boom, decided to tweet it out. Bad decision. I respect what he’s done. If it empowers anybody, then he’s doing a good thing. I apologize for that.”
When asked about wearing his cap, Nick Bosa refused to expand on it.
Colin Kaepernick’s Girlfriend Fires Off At Nick Bosa
In the aftermath of San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa interrupting a teammate’s interview to show off a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat, Nessa Diab, Colin Kaepernick’s partner, voiced her stance in a fiery way.
After the team’s recent victory over the Dallas Cowboys, Bosa interrupted Brock Purdy’s postgame interview wearing a MAGA (Make America Great Again) hat.
Unlike the reaction to Kaepernick, Bosa was praised.
Diab took the clip to Instagram to share it, making it clear that she stands by Kaepernick.
“#IMWITHKAP, #STILLWITHKAP,” Diab wrote on Instagram.
