Finally, the San Francisco 49ers have their best player locked up as they enter the start of the 2023 NFL season.
Time was ticking down on the two sides to agree on a deal, but with Sunday’s season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers just days away, the Niners finally handed Bosa the record-breaking offer he was looking for.
According to reports, the deal is for five years and $170-million, with $122.5-million guaranteed. It works out to an average of $34-million per season, making the reigning Defensive Player of the Year the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.
Bosa is coming off his best season since being drafted second overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played in 16 contests, leading the league in sacks with 18.5. Through four seasons, he’s played in 51 games and recorded 43 career sacks.
He’ll turn just 26-years-old in October.
