The San Francisco 49ers improved to 12-4 on the season with a 37-34 overtime win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, but nobody expected this game to be as hard as it was for a team that just benched their starting QB for the remainder of the season.
The Raiders opted to bench Derek Carr and start Jarrett Stidham, who threw for 365 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.
The backup QB was impressive on this day, however, Josh Jacobs caught the attention of 49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa. He had high praise for him as he called Jacobs the best running back he’s ever played against.
Sunday wasn’t exactly Jacobs’ best game as he rushed for 69 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries and caught four passes for 26 yards.
The 24-year-old, who is in just his fourth NFL season, entered the game having rushed for a career-high 1,539 yards, in addition to 11 touchdowns, in 15 games. He had also caught 47 passes for 369 yards.
There’s no telling where he goes from here as he is set to become a free agent after the 2022 campaign. The Raiders came into the season seemingly having a Super Bowl contender after trading for Davante Adams, but now it appears the team may be headed for a full rebuild.

Jacobs is sure to receive a hefty deal, whether that be with the Raiders or elsewhere. That would make this 2022 campaign even more of a nightmare for the franchise and the fan base.
