The Redditor who broke the news on Christian McCaffrey’s trade to the San Francisco 49ers is now making some claims that should leave fans worried.
User josh_rosen recently took to the platform to report that talks between the Niners and Nick Bosa have broken down because the edge rusher wants a lot more than the team is willing to pay. They’re also claiming that the team has “threatened” to trade Bosa to an unnamed AFC team should he fail to accept their offer within a week.
The AFC team in question is thought to be open to paying the defensive star whatever he wants, while the 49ers are said to have been “working on the parameters of a blockbuster trade for several weeks.”
Of course, you should take this with a grain of salt. While Bosa remains away from the team, the latest official news coming out of San Francisco is positive. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has reported that there’s some more optimism over agreeing a new deal with the player.
“A little bit more optimism here with his contract with the 49ers because teams I’ve talked to expect him to put up a massive number, somewhere in that $30M+ per year,” Fowler said on SportsCenter (H/T Bleacher Report).
“He’s considered the best pass rusher in the NFL. The 49ers have prioritized that; they know that. They want to get this done. It’s just a deal of this magnitude with a lot of nuances about it, the structure the amount of years, a lot to sort out. So, still some time here.”

John Lynch, the team’s GM, has also said he expects a deal to be reached before the start of the upcoming NFL season.
