The NFL’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year knows he’s going to get paid and that contract is likely to break some record.
A new report says the 49ers front office and Bosa are “accelerating” contract talks with the expectation that a new deal making Nick Bosa the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. The deal is expected to be done before training camp.
While the two sides have yet to work out a deal, the 49ers’ star doesn’t seem worried about his chances of inking a new deal this summer.
Earlier this month, Bosa told reporters he’s “pretty confident” he’ll land a long-term contract extension before the start of training camp.
“I think I’ll get what I deserve,” Bosa said.

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end T.J. Watt is currently the highest-paid defensive end in the NFL.
For the upcoming season, Bosa is set to make $17.9 million on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. There is a strong chance he will become the first edge-rusher to top an $30 million annual salary with his next contract. He is one of, if not the best edge rushers in the entire league.
He won Defensive Player of the Year after compiling 51 tackles and 18.5 sacks as part of the NFL’s best defense.
Bosa has racked up 43 sacks over his first four NFL seasons despite missing all but two games in 2020.
