Dating back to the start of the 2022 NFL season, not a single team made easy work of Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Until this past Sunday.
Hurts’ only two losses last year (including the Super Bowl) were all decided by one score. Even in a “down” outing against the New York Jets (a 20-14 Philly loss), Hurts still had 280 yards passing, one passing TD and one rushing score.
But then the Eagles’ highly-anticipated Week 13 home game against the San Francisco 49ers arrived on the calendar. In a rain-filled affair and NFC Championship Game rematch, the Eagles were clobbered 42-19.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Week 14, 49ers star edge rusher Nick Bosa claimed that the club found “the blueprint” on Hurts, adding hope that the Dallas Cowboys (Philly’s opponent this Sunday) will follow it.
“We put the blueprint out there,” Bosa said. “Hopefully, the Cowboys watch the tape…You just have to be disciplined and not give him that quick escape route.”

Hurts completed 26 of 45 pass attempts for 298 yards and a touchdown, but he was sacked three times and was limited to 20 rushing yards and a rushing score on seven carries. Much of Hurts’ production also came in garbage time with the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.
Last year, a team’s only hope in beating Hurts was to win a shootout — which the Kansas City Chiefs achieved in the Super Bowl. But if other teams can follow the 49ers’ blueprint, they won’t have to rely on a 30-plus-point outing to defeat Hurts and the mighty Eagles.
