A few days ago, social media was up in arms finding out federal law enforcement reportedly raided the Washington Football Team’s INOVA Sports Performance Center as it related to an ongoing criminal investigation involving head athletic trainer and director of sports medicine Ryan Vermillion, who has been placed on administrative leave by the team.
On Thursday, the NFL Players’ Association sent a notice to agents stating that they are investigating the DEA raid on the office and home of Vermillion. They have also called on all players who may be called by the DEA to contact their legal department first before replying.
“If your client is contacted by the DEA or any federal government entity, please immediately contact the NFLPA legal department or agent administration department, and we will assist the player with next steps,” the notice said. “The NFLPA has formally noticed the NFL that we have opened an investigation into the matter since it involves an NFL Club senior medical staff member and relates to players’ health, safety, and medical care.”
Ryan Vermillion has not been charged with anything as of right now. He is in his second year with the Washington Football Team after spending the previous 18 with the Carolina Panthers.
Vermillion’s attorney, Barry Coburn, declined comment.

Head Coach Ron Rivera told NBC Sports Washington that he put his trust in Vermillion.
“The only thing I can say about Ryan is, I know who Ryan is. Last year I trusted Ryan with my health, and I would do it again,” he said.
When asked if he had received any questions about Vermillion from players, he said, “We’ll stick to the statement that’s been made, and we’ll focus in on playing football and try to stick to that.”
