When every NFL season begins, one team that fans always expect to be in the postseason is the New England Patriots.
The last time the franchise missed the playoffs was 2008, and that was only because Tom Brady got injured early and was ruled out for the season. Even still, the team went 11-5 and finished second in their division.
I guess we can count 2020 as a down year for the franchise to miss the postseason, at least, that’s what Dan Graziano thinks is going to happen.
The ESPN NFL writer was recently asked which 2019 playoff team will miss the postseason in the 2020 campaign, and he opted to state the Patriots.
“I’m going big. I’m going Patriots,” Graziano said on “NFL Live.” “How about that? I’m going to say Tom Brady is leaving and I’m going to say they’re going to probably think about maybe a little bit of a tear-down, rebuild situation in New England. They have a very old roster. It’s crazy to say the Patriots won’t be in the playoffs, but it’s early February, so big or go home. I say Tom Brady leaves and they don’t make it back.”
There is much uncertainty surrounding the team as Tom Brady is expected to test out the free agent market for the first time in his career. Not to mention, there are 19 players eligible for free agency this spring on the roster.
