The NFL certainly feels a lot different this season for one obvious reason: The most accomplished player in league history is no longer involved in the quest for a Super Bowl championship.
Back in February, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady announced his second retirement from football. Unlike the first retirement announcement, however, Brady is actually intent on staying committed to this one (we assume).
On their official Instagram page, the NFL posted a montage to show how different the world was in 1999, the last NFL season that didn’t feature Brady.
Among the things highlighted in the video: Bill Clinton was still president of the United States, Kurt Warner had led the St. Louis Rams to the franchise’s first Super Bowl championship, and the NFL had 31 teams split in six divisions.
Brady spent 20 years with the New England Patriots, who drafted him 199th overall back in 2000. He spent his final three years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leading the franchise to a Super Bowl title (his seventh ring) in his first season there.
