Though the Los Angeles Rams traded away one core star in Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins earlier this offseason, it appears as though general manager Les Snead prefers to remain competitive for 2023.
Head coach Sean McVay agreed to return for at least another year after speculation that he would step away. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, defensive tackle Aaron Donald and wide receiver Cooper Kupp are still on the roster with the draft less than two weeks away.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay proposed several blockbuster trade ideas that would shake up the upcoming NFL season. One of Kay’s proposals? The Rams sending Kupp to the New York Giants in exchange for the No. 25 and No. 89 picks plus a 2024 third-rounder:
“It’d be tough to find a better landing spot for Kupp than the New York Giants. The G-Men managed to scrape their way into the playoffs and even won a postseason game for the first time since 2011 despite having a subpar selection of receiver talent.
Darius Slayton was Big Blue’s top pass-catcher in 2022 with 46 catches for 724 yards and two touchdowns in 16 games. Kupp surpassed those marks in only nine games this season before an ankle injury shut him down for the year.
With quarterback Daniel Jones now signed through the 2026 season, the Giants need to find him a high-end wideout who can take the pressure off running back Saquon Barkley to carry the offensive burden. If New York is willing to part with its first-rounder and a pair of third-rounders, the Rams would get a highly respectable return for a receiver heading into his age-30 season and coming off an injury.
This trade could be a win-win for both sides. It might help the Giants make it back to the Super Bowl while positioning L.A. to become a contender again down the line.”
Last offseason, Kupp signed a three-year contract extension worth $80 million. This came after he pieced together one of the greatest individual seasons in NFL history, one that saw Kupp finish as the NFL’s leader in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16).

Kupp followed it up with a historic postseason performance. In four games, he hauled in 33 receptions for 478 yards and six touchdowns. He caught the game-winning touchdown in Super Bowl 56 against the Cincinnati Bengals and was named the MVP of the big game.
Kupp was limited to nine games last season because of an ankle injury that required surgery. Despite missing almost half the year, he finished with 75 receptions for 812 yards and six touchdowns.
There’s no indicator the Rams are shopping Kupp, of course. But if he were to hit the trade block, the Giants (coming off a surprise playoff appearance in 2022), would make perfect sense as a landing spot.
