The Dallas Cowboys have seemingly backed off signing Odell Beckham Jr. after weeks of speculation that he might be headed to sign a deal with them.
After months of speculation about where Odell Beckham Jr. will play this season, it appears we now know where Odell will be headed and that’s not signing with anybody this year at all.
Per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the belief among several NFL teams is that Beckham will sit out the entire 2022 season and sign with a team at the start of free agency in March. One team executive told Fowler that Beckham will “be the prize” among free-agent receivers.
“Executives whose teams have done their homework on Beckham expect him to wait because, as one put it, ‘he’ll be the prize’ of the free agent receiver class,” Fowler wrote. “Beckham isn’t expected to be ready to play football until the playoffs, and joining a new team and offense for a playoff run comes with injury risk.”
Odell runs the risk of playing high-intensity football and being injured again and missing out on yet another big contract. During an appearance on The Shop, Beckham said he doesn’t “see the point” in trying to play in the regular season this year.
The Buffalo Bills who signed Cole Beasley out of retirement this week made it clear that it would not prevent them from pursuing Odell Beckham Jr., general manager Brandon Beane told reporters Wednesday.

“We haven’t closed any doors. We had a good visit,” Beane said.
However, it seems they will have to wait until the offseason like everybody else. The three-time Pro Bowler is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Super Bowl LVI and is not expected to play during the regular season.
If Beckham waits until free agency, presumably more teams will be able to make him an offer that he wants.
