The Indianapolis Colts will be without a veteran defensive lineman for the remainder of their 2023 postseason push.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the league has suspended defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad six games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Muhammad has been on the club’s practice squad all season long and hasn’t played a single down in 2023.
The 28-year-old Muhammad spent his rookie year with the New Orleans Saints in 2017 before joining Indianapolis, where he’d spend his next four years. Muhammad had a career year for the Colts in 2021, recording six sacks and one forced fumble.
He spent the 2022 campaign with the Chicago Bears and appeared in 16 games (nine starts), tallying one sack and a forced fumble. Muhammad was released by the Bears in the offseason and returned to the Colts in August.
For his career, the Miami product has 12 sacks, four forced fumbles and 157 combined tackles in 84 games.
The Colts have been one of the biggest surprises in football this season, boasting a 7-5 record entering Week 14. Indianapolis currently holds the No. 6 seed in the AFC, and they’d visit the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the opening round if the postseason began today.
