The NFL has suspended a Houston Texans player for repeated player safety rule violations this Tuesday.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Denzel Perryman has been hit with a three-game ban due to his persistent contravention of the league’s rule concerning contact using helmets.
Rapoport notes that the player has accrued seven helmet foul violations so far this season, with the latest stemming from the Texans’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Perryman has played in six games for Houston this season, registering 41 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks.
It appears the league is looking to get a firmer grasp on such violations, having previously fined players for helmet fouls and now issuing suspensions.
Broncos safety Kareem Jackson has also been suspended for similar infringements but had his four-game ban reduced to two.
