With the NFL Draft wrapping up over the weekend in Kansas City, many football fans are left wondering when they will get their next NFL fix. They will not have to wait that long as the next big event on the NFL calendar has been announced and it will be going down in less than two weeks.
Every May, just after the Draft is completed, the NFL does its much anticipated schedule release for the upcoming season. It has been announced that commissioner Roger Goodell is planning to reveal the 2023 schedule on Thursday May 11th.
Creating a schedule for 32 teams, playing 17 games in venues all across America is a long and arduous process. Not to mention, the schedule makers also need to factor in which teams they feel will be relevant and in contention near the end of the season while trying to decide on which teams to put in prime time.
A few years back the NFL began flex scheduling near the end of the regular season to help with this process and it seems like the flexing of games will be even more prevalent this season.
Every year in the NFL there are storylines to follow along and the schedule makers take this into consideration while putting the schedule together. There is no doubt the number one storyline of this off season was the trading of Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, so football fans should expect to see a lot of Rodgers and the Jets in prime time this upcoming season.
