For the first time, the NFL has flexed a “Monday Night Football” game. The league has taken the Chiefs-Patriots matchup off of Monday night and has replaced it with the Eagles’ road game against the Seahawks.
That wasn’t all the news.
The league also created a tripleheader of games on Saturday, Dec. 16 by moving Vikings at Bengals from Sunday to Saturday at 1 p.m. ET, Steelers at Colts from Sunday to Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET, and Broncos at Lions from Sunday to Saturday night at 8:15 p.m. ET.
Every single one of those teams is currently in the playoff race as of right now.
Both the Vikings and Bengals have lost their starting quarterbacks for the season for their matchup. The Colts lost Anthony Richardson weeks ago while the Steelers have questions about their starting QB in Kenny Pickett.
Both the Broncos and Lions are the surprise teams of the season as Denver looked like a dumpster fire at the beginning of the season but has since turned it around and is in the playoff race. The Lions still have a chance to fight for home-field advantage as we get closer to the start of the playoffs.
