NFL fans had a lot to say following a report that the Las Vegas Raiders recently turned down a blockbuster trade.
On Friday, Jeff Howe and Tashan Reed of The Athletic reported that the Raiders looked at the idea of acquiring the No. 1 pick from the Chicago Bears. The Carolina Panthers wound up acquiring the top selection from the Bears last week, and they’re widely expected to take Alabama’s Bryce Young or Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud with the top selection. The Bears moved down to the No. 9 spot in the draft, putting them out of position to take Young, Stroud or a can’t-miss prospect like Will Anderson Jr.
The Raiders wound up addressing their need for a quarterback by signing ex-San Francisco 49ers starter Jimmy Garoppolo in free agency. Garoppolo signed a three-year deal worth $72.75 million after spending the last six seasons in San Francisco.
The Houston Texans hold the No. 2 pick, and they’re likely going to select whichever quarterback remains between between Young and Stroud. The Arizona Cardinals own the No. 3 selection, though there’s a high chance they will trade it to a QB-needy team.
It’s also likely that the Indianapolis Colts will take a quarterback with the No. 4 selection, with Kentucky’s Will Levis and Florida’s Anthony Richardson among the likely options available.
