Former USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams is reportedly being hailed as a hero following a controversial decision.
Williams, heavily tipped to go No. 1 when the NFL Draft rolls by next month, has opted to forego medical examinations at the NFL Scouting Combine and has explained that he will undergo such testing when he meets with teams individually.
“One league source believes Williams is the first combine invitee to attend the event after declining the medical exams, which are typically considered to be one of the most essential elements of the combine,” CBS Sports reported this Friday.
“In accepting his invitation, Williams also did not sign off on having his medical records shared with all 32 teams, sources say.”
While the decision has earned Williams some criticism from some media corners, it’s said that other prospects are thanking the QB for refusing to undergo combine medicals as many of them see it as a waste of time given that there’s a reported three-hour waiting period while players are asked a lot of “unnecessary personal questions.”
Williams is said to have already met with the Bears in Indianapolis earlier this week. He is expected to meet with the Commanders, Raiders, Vikings, Falcons, Patriots, Jets, and Giants before leaving the combine.
