NFL players recently picked up the tradition that started with international soccer stars, where two players sign and exchange jerseys as a sign of respect.
However, I bet you did not know that it actually comes a pretty big costs to players who take part in the jersey swap.
NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco found out during this week that players are charged $500-plus when they gift their game-worn uniform top to another player.
It might seem ridiculous, but it shouldn’t come as a shock that teams would want to be reimbursed for a jersey they gave to the player to begin with. Players around the league likely know this information already, but are clearly willing to pay the bill to get a jersey from a top player on the opposing team.
