NFL teams are all about making money. And it’s not like they’ve ever tried to really hide that fact from us.
Even with that in mind, it’s still pretty shocking to find out how much the players have to pay if they want to keep their own equipment.
After battling hard and leaving it all on the field for an entire season with a franchise, you’d think the least they could do is allow you to keep our helmet and a couple of jerseys as keepsakes. But that’s not exactly the case.
As we learned from the TikTok account of Tianna Robillard, the Arizona Cardinals charged her boyfriend, offensive guard Cody Ford, $1,350 to keep some of his gear from this past season.
From the looks of the video, Ford took home a helmet and several jerseys—which, if we need to remind you, have his name on the back!
I can totally understand that these NFL teams don’t want to see their players taking home their game helmet after every week. But part of the deal of playing for a team for the entire season should include getting to keep your equipment when it’s all said and done.

At least that’s what I had assumed was the case. I wasn’t the only one surprised by this, either.
Here’s how twitter reacted:
Former NFL linebacker and Super Bowl champion with the New Orleans Saints, Scott Shanle, cleared things up a bit, pointing out that not all organizations are this greedy, and some of them actually give the players all their jerseys at the end of the year, while others auction them off for charity.
I guess the Bidwill family is looking for any way to recoup all that money they’re going to have to pay Kliff Kingsbury to vacation in Thailand.
