NFL on Fox has been called out for using someone else’s video without crediting them for it.
The network had the rights to broadcast Sunday’s Super Bowl rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. However, it appears they did not have rights to the video they showed of Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany attending a local high school game.
Mahomes and his wife joined head coach Andy Reid and teammate Chris Jones at Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, Kansas, on Friday night to watch Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy’s son play.
It was quite wholesome to see. Even so, the clip did not belong to FOX and was recorded by a local news reporter.
The reporter, Matt Foster, who works for KSHB, called the broadcasters out for using his video without his permission.
“Nothing like a major sports network using video you shot – without permission or even a courtesy 🙄🙄🙄 good work, @NFLonFOX,” he wrote on X.
FOX Sports has been taking some flak online, with Community Notes now attached to the clip.

“This video of the Chiefs players and coaches is from Matt Foster of KSHB in Kansas City,” one reads.
“Fox also cropped out the Watermark in the video,” the other reads.
‘NFL on FOX’ Really Missed With This One
Major networks using footage from smaller outlets is pretty commonplace. However, they typically seek permission and credit the source. Most people are happy to have them use their content.
For some reason, FOX Sports made use of Foster’s video without asking him.
They have yet to respond to him calling them out.
