A member of the chain gang suffered a brutal injury during the Saints’ loss to the Lions.
Nick Piazza’s legs were taken out from under him after Lions linebacker Derrick Barnes pushed Alvin Kamara hard over the sideline during the second quarter. Piazza, whose shoe came off in the incident, fell to the ground and immediately clutched his injured left leg. An air cast was placed on Piazza’s leg and he was carted off the field and to an ambulance.
Piazza was then transferred to the hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
That official ended up suffering a dislocated knee.
As for the game, Sam LaPorta had career highs of nine catches for 140 yards, including a touchdown and the Detroit Lions defeated the reeling New Orleans Saints 33-28 on Sunday to post their best record through 12 games since 1962.
The Saints lost quarterback Derek Carr in the fourth quarter to several injuries and Jameis Winston had to play the rest of the way.

Jared Goff passed for 213 yards and two TDs for the Lions.
Kamara enjoyed a massive outing with two touchdowns and 109 total yards, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the early 21-0 deficit they faced in the first quarter.
