The 2022 NFL trade deadline was one of the wildest, if not THE wildest, ever!
There were tons of big-name players on the move, but what if we told you that there actually could have been even more?
Several NFL teams were left wondering whether they should be buyers or sellers at the deadline, as we’re only eight weeks into the season and there’s still plenty of time to turn their season around.
As a result, several NFL teams found themselves making one specific request to the league’s front offices this week: Move the trade deadline back!
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, multiple teams contacted the league office to suggest moving the trade deadline back a few weeks, from after week 8 to either after week 10 or 12.
Such a move would allow more teams to understand their position in the standings, making it easier for them to determine whether they should be buyers or sellers.

For example, the Raiders were said to have been fielding calls from the Green Bay Packers for Darren Waller, but according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Vegas still feels like they have “plenty to play for” heading into week 9. And they believe Waller will be a big part of their second-half turn-around.
Moving the deadline back a few weeks would likely help delusional clubs like the Raiders accept the fact that their season is a wash and it’s time to look forward to next year.
