The NFL has opted to flex an upcoming game to ‘Thursday Night Football’ as it appears to have given up on one of the league’s best quarterbacks.
Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals are having a torrid campaign despite the QB’s high-level play, but it appears the NFL is ready to move on as they are taking Cincy off a primetime game slot.
That is according to MLFootball.
“The #Chargers – #Broncos game is being FLEXED to Thursday Night Football in Week 16, league sources exclusively tell @_MLFootball,” they reported on Friday morning.
The league had likely envisioned an all-time showdown between Ohio rivals, the Bengals and Cleveland Browns but couldn’t have expected the former to suck this badly and the latter to lose its starting QB, although Jameis Winston is cooking something, having stepped into the role.

So Bo Nix and Justin Herbert are going to go head-to-head on the TNF slot while a date and time for the Browns-Bengals game remains TBA, at least according to said source.

The NFL hasn’t made an official announcement, with the schedule remaining unchanged on its official website.
The league implemented the flex option to give teams exuding potential the opportunity to show out in primetime games.
The Bengals have not been great this season despite having one of the best signal-callers under center, and it’s not like he’s playing poorly. But if MLFootball’s information is correct, they will ride with the Nix vs. Herbert clash instead.
