Lawrence Taylor was arrested Thursday in South Florida, according to Andy Slater of Fox Sports.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer and former New York Giants linebacker has been charged with two felonies after allegedly changing his address without notifying authorities, which violates the requirements for registered sex offenders.
The lowest of three levels of sex offenders, which is level 1, is what Taylor was put as in 2011 after pleading guilty to sexual misconduct and soliciting a prostitute in the third degree. At that time, a 16-year-old girl claimed she was beaten by a pimp and forced to go to Taylor’s hotel room to have sex with him.
Taylor was released several hours after booking on charges of sex offender violations, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office told TMZ.
As you know, Taylor has been on the wrong side of the law numerous times since retiring in 1993. In 2009, he left the scene of an accident and arrested in 2016 for crashing into a parked police car.
The 62-year-old spent a total of 13 years in the league and was easily one of the best defensive players of his generation, earning 10 Pro Bowl nods and eight first-team All-Pro selections.
