Eleven days was all it took for the New England Patriots to get tired of having distractions from Antonio Brown before they decided to pull the plug and release him from the roster.
“The New England Patriots are releasing Antonio Brown. We appreciate the hard work of many people over the past 11 days, but we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time.”
The news came on the heels of even more controversy surrounding the WR after he was exposed by an unnamed accuser of sending harrassing text messages following a story told to Sports Illustrated on his sexual misconduct after she was hired by him to paint a mural at his house.
Hours after the dust had cleared a bit from the big news, the National Football League released a statement on the status of Antonio Brown.
The statement notes that Brown is “presently investigating multiple allegations, some of which are the subject of pending litigation.” The investigation into these allegations are “ongoing and will be pursued vigorously and expeditiously.”
That statement alone might keep any team from signing him, just so they don’t have to deal with it.
