Following reports of the NFL investigating a player attached to the Indianapolis Colts for gambling violations, said player has stepped forward to identify himself.
News pertaining to this latest probe broke on Monday afternoon, with SportsHandle.com and ESPN reporting as much. The Colts confirmed with a short statement, hiding the player’s identity, but he has since put out an apology, revealing his identity in the process.
Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers tweeted on Monday night with claims that he wants to take full responsibility for his actions, as well as his becoming a distraction to the team.
“I know I have made mistakes and I am willing to do whatever it takes to repair the situation,” he wrote. “The last thing I ever wanted to do was to be a distraction to the Colts organization, my coaches, and my teammates. I’ve let people down that I care about.
“I made an error in judgment and I am going to work hard to make sure that those mistakes are rectified through this process. It’s an honor to play in the NFL and I have never taken that lightly. I am very sorry for all of this.”

Rodgers, 25, was selected by the Colts at No. 211 in the 2020 DFL Draft and is entering the final year of his $3.4 million contract.

His infringements are pretty damning as there were bets placed on Colts games via an account opened under the name of one of his associates. Per reports, around 100 bets were placed, with most of them between the $25-$30 range. One of them was a low four-figure sum.
The CB was in line to start this season following Stephon Gilmore’s trade to the Dallas Cowboys, and having played in nine games for the Colts last season. Should the NFL suspend him, which is very likely, rookie Julius Brents could see a whole lot of playing time.
