Tom Brady has retired again. But he’s not going to kick things off with FOX until the fall of 2024, so perhaps the door is still open for a potential return to the NFL.
Given that he already unretired once, Brady could perhaps forgive folks for thinking he could come back.
NFL insider Jason La Canfora is one of the people who reckon the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback could be back in the NFL for a third time despite his claiming to be done with the game a little over a week ago.
Speaking on The Huddle podcast, La Canfora drew up a scenario in which the signal-caller could fashion a comeback.
He said:
You’re going to tell me that some established coach who’s having a hell of a year couldn’t get him on the bat phone a couple of days after Thanksgiving and say ‘Here’s the deal, man, we don’t even need to do the contract now. Do you feel like getting in shape?
If you feel like going out there with Tom House for a couple of weeks – doesn’t have to be a month – and you think it’s going well, I’m going to send you a playbook, look at it, you can not look at it,’ or it might be somebody where there’s already familiarity, whatever.

Brady left pro football with seven Super Bowl wins and is widely considered to be the GOAT. While an eighth title would have been great, he’s still had one of the most successful careers in all of sports and just wants to spend time with his kids now.
Of course, a return to playing isn’t that far-fetched, especially if it’s not for an entire season. The prospect of winning another Super Bowl with a team considered to be a contender towards the end of the year would be attractive to anyone, let alone Tom Brady.
Until he takes up that job at FOX, people are going to speculate. We have well over a year of that left.
