Ever since the Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford announced they mutually agreed to part ways this offseason, the franchise has gotten tons of interest in the veteran quarterback.
The offers have been coming in so much that one NFL insider expects a trade to happen before the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Bucs in the Super Bowl.
“The interest is significant. Expect a trade before the Super Bowl,” Ian Rapoport tweeted on Saturday.
While teams can agree to a trade, nothing can become official until the new league year begins in March. The Rams, 49ers, Colts, Broncos and Patriots are all expected to have interest in Stafford.
The soon-to-be 33-year-old QB has spent his entire 12-year career in Detroit, amassing a 74-90-1 as a starter and has only made the playoffs three times. He has yet to win a single playoff game.
Last season, Stafford completed 64.2% of his passes for 4,084 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
