Russell Wilson’s starting job in Denver might not be all that safe and it’s possible the quarterback could even be playing elsewhere next season, according to football analyst Mike Florio.
Wilson has had a torrid first season with the Broncos who are, by extension, having another stinker of a campaign this year. The team got rid of head coach Nathaniel Hackett on Monday and will be working hard to recruit a new HC for next term, with Sean Payton’s name being floated in the wake of Hackett’s axing.
The way Florio sees it, Wilson could be made to show Denver his back too.
“There’s a chance they [the Broncos] just do the old ‘pull off the Band-Aid’ in one motion and deal with it and say, ‘See you later.’ Russ cut or traded [around] June 1st,” he said on Pro Football Talk PM (H/T Sportskeeda.com).
“I don’t know that they’ll find a trade partner for him, but that’s a possibility as well, especially if they’re having a hard time getting a coach that really wants to come in and work with Russell Wilson.”
If Wilson wants to remain with the Broncos, he will hope the team can find a coach who is keen on working with him. On the bright side, they have plenty of time to get their affairs in order as the regular season isn’t even over yet.

The Broncos might have a tougher time than they need to as it pertains to getting a coach to take the job as the team owner and CEO is reported to have made some worrying demands, according to another insider.
