It was reported earlier today that Calvin Ridley was suspended for the 2022 season for betting on NFL games, and now we’re getting more details regarding exactly how he got busted by the league.
Ridley was apparently betting on games between November 23 and 28 of 2021, while he was away from the Atlanta Falcons and on the NFL’s non-football illness list. The star wideout was found to have placed less than 10 wagers, some of which were parlays that included the Falcons. However, he only ever bet on his team to win.
In addition to this information. Albert Breer has also revealed exactly how Ridley was booked by the NFL, as it’s being reported that he was in Florida at the time and was using the only legal gambling app in the state.
Breer adds that the app immediately identified the company “Genius” about the wagers, as they’re the company that was hired by the NFL to deal with these sorts of things.
In the end, it was Ridley making the wagers out of state that is believed to be the main factor in him getting caught.

Now, he’ll forfeit the over $10-million he was set to make in 2022, all over a few wagers that amounted to $1,500. As The Ringer’s Rodger Sherman pointed out, those are some pretty terrible odds.
