Jalen Ramsey has likely played his final game for the Los Angeles Rams. The Los Angeles Rams appear ready to move on from Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey after a successful three-and-a-half-year stint.
So, what is the reason the team would get rid of such a dynamic defensive player?
According to ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, Ramsey is likely looking to sign a new deal after playing two years of his contract in Los Angeles.
“The problem likely is that he’s angling for a new contract,” Florio reports. “He has three years left on the five-year extension he signed in 2020. He’s due to make $17 million this year ($12.5 million of which is fully guaranteed), $18.5 million in 2024, and $19.5 million in 2025.”
The Los Angeles Rams went all-in to win the Super Bowl, achieved their goal, and had the literal worst season for a defending champion in NFL history. Now, the team needs to shed some money off their books and Ramsey might be on his way out.
“It’s because Ramsey wants more and that the Rams are trying to accommodate him before things get as ugly as they did when he wanted out of Jacksonville,” Florio added.

The Rams have had trade talks about their All-Pro cornerback and are “very likely” to trade him in the next few weeks as a salary cap-clearing move, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The Rams acquired and retained Ramsey in 2019 by sending two first-round draft picks and a fourth-rounder in a trade with Jacksonville Jaguars, then giving him a record five-year, $105 million contract extension less than a year later.
