With Baker Mayfield now being traded to the Carolina Panthers, there is one less team in the market for a starting QB as the 49ers still try and unload Jimmy Garoppolo to anybody.
In terms of trade partners, it appears that the Seahawks are the last remaining option.
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk still believes there’s hope for Garoppolo and the 49ers and even went out of his way to name the eight teams that should consider trading for the veteran signal-caller.
Florio listed the Browns, Steelers, Falcons, Lions, Seahawks, Saints, Texans and Dolphins as suitors for Garoppolo.
FS1’s Colin Cowherd thinks Garoppolo is the ideal bridge quarterback. In fact, he thinks Garoppolo is the world’s “best bridge quarterback” out there.
“He’s willing to be a backup, he’ll never screw you at the podium and everybody in the room likes him,” he said on Thursday.

Garoppolo started 15 regular-season games in 2021.
Earlier this offseason, San Francisco tried to trade Garoppolo but the QB underwent shoulder surgery in March, halting discussions. Now, the list of NFL teams potentially interested in trading for a quarterback has dwindled, putting the 49ers in a difficult situation.
Releasing Garoppolo would allow the division-rival Seattle Seahawks to swoop in and grab the quarterback. At this point, it’s looking like the 49ers have no choice.
