Jameis Winston surely thought he would be back in Tampa Bay in 2020, despite his tremendous and terrible season, but the heavy rumors of Tom Brady coming there continues to get louder as the offseason moved on.
On Friday, it was confirmed that he was done with the team that drafted him after Brady officially signed his 2-year deal.
Now, where will Winston land in free agency.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero mentioned three teams that appear to be viable landing spots.
“Look at some of the teams with older starting quarterbacks. In Pittsburgh, they do have Mason Rudolph behind Ben Roethlisberger, but you could see a case there to get [Winston]. New Orleans with Teddy Bridgewater moving on. Now they have Taysom Hill, but do they want another young backup quarterback that also has a lot of starting experience. Or even in Atlanta, with Matt Schaub backing up Matt Ryan for the past few years. Winston’s old coach Dirk Koetter is there too.”
The Steelers could be the perfect option, but they are currently cash strapped right now.
Atlanta and New Orleans already have their starting QB’s in place, but it would give him the chance to face his former squad twice per season.
