Quarterback drama has persisted throughout the offseason’s early months, and one of the early contributors is back in the mix. Kyler Murray is seeking a Cardinals extension before the draft, but two weeks ahead of the event, nothing seems imminent.
The Cardinals have not made Murray an offer, according to NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero. As a result, other teams are “monitoring” for a potential trade.
Because of these developments, NFL insider Mike Florio floated several potential landing spots for the former No. 1 overall pick.
He named the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, and New Orleans Saints as the “most obvious” trade candidates.
“The most obvious candidates would be the three finalists for Deshaun Watson who didn’t get the new Browns quarterback: Panthers, Falcons, and Saints. This assumes that each of those teams would be OK with a quarterback who is on the very short side, by NFL starting quarterback standards.”
Florio also floated the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles as a possible trade candidates.

“The Eagles possibly would be interested,” Florio said. “In the AFC, Texans also would potentially explore the possibility.”
The 24-year-old standout became extension-eligible in January, and his side has ramped up the pressure on the Cardinals to hammer out a deal. The former No. 1 overall pick is under contract for two more seasons, via the fifth-year option, the Cardinals plan to pick up.
Without Kyler Murray, the Cardinals will field one of the worst teams in the NFL next season.
The Cardinals finished 11–6 in 2021 as Murray threw for 3,787 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
