Despite reports of two more civil lawsuits being filed against Deshaun Watson in the past two weeks, the Browns reportedly intend to stick by their quarterback amid the new allegations.
Watson is currently facing 24 active civil suits, each detailing graphic accounts of sexual harassment and sexual assault that occurred during massage therapy sessions. Those accounts range from Watson allegedly refusing to cover his genitals to the quarterback “touching [a plaintiff] with his [genitals] and trying to force her to perform oral sex on him.”
The NFL continues to investigate the Cleveland Browns quarterback to determine whether to punish him for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
On The Pat McAfee Show, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said the league is expected to make a ruling sometime before training camp commences in late July. Rapoport speculated Watson would be suspended anywhere from four to 10 games.
Cleveland currently has no plans to void Watson’s record five-year contract or the trade with the Texans that brought him to the organization, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported last Friday. The 26-year-old signed an extension worth a guaranteed $230 million, the largest guaranteed deal in NFL history, after waiving his no-trade clause to join the Browns in a massive blockbuster deal in March.
Last week, Jenny Vrentas of the New York Times published a report in which multiple women accused him of initiating sexual contact. The reort adds that he made massage appointments with at least 66 different women during a 17-month period.
