Baker Mayfield stopped communicating with the Cleveland Browns this offseason and it eventually led to him being replaced by a much better QB in Deshaun Watson.
The former No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick will be moved at sometime, but we are now finding out just why he stopped responding to anybody on the Browns side.
According to The Athletic, Mayfield believed the Browns were going to trade for Minnesota Vikings starter Kirk Cousins.
“Baker Mayfield stopped communicating with the Browns. His side believed they would trade for Kirk Cousins. Andrew Berry told his agent they would only pursue one of the elite guys if they could get one. Turns out, they got one,” Jason Lloyd reports.
It had seemed like the Browns had no shot at landing Watson until they changed up the deal and offered a fully guaranteed contract and everything changed quite quickly.
The huge difference made a biug shift in the AFC North and the conference as a whole. The Browns had only qualified for the postseason one time since Mayfield was drafted and were only seen as an actual threat once when they traded for Odell Beckham Jr.

Imagine OBJ and Jarvis Landry on this team now with Watson. Now, both are no longer on the roster and Mayfield is soon to follow.
