Dalvin Cook could become a major target for a certain team should the Minnesota Vikings make the decision to trade him during the draft.
ESPN is reporting that sources are of the view that the Miami Dolphins could pursue a deal for the player if the Vikings opt to draft another running back this week.
“Some people think Miami could get aggressive there if he becomes available because the Vikings have drafted another running back,” the publication notes in their latest draft buzz piece.
Cook, who signed a five-year deal to the tune of $63 million with Minnesota in 2020, has a cap hit ranging from $13.5 million to $15.6 million on a yearly basis. The Vikings are understood to be keen on recouping cap space and are considering all options for the player, including trading or releasing him.
Cook is one of the highest earners in his position but has shown that he’s worth every bit of his salary as he’s been a Pro Bowler for the past four seasons, also rushing for at least 1,100 yards over the period.
He was instrumental in the Vikings winning the NFC North with a 13-4 record last season, rushing for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns. He also made 39 receptions for 295 yards and two TDs.

Minnesota could opt to trade him if they are able to land either Bijan Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs in the upcoming draft. And, if ESPN’s sources are to be believed, the Fins could swoop for a deal shortly after.
