Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns fans can both calm down when it comes to the movement of Baker Mayfield.
In a Twitter post, a jersey with the No. 6 was spotted in the Seahawks fan shop and fans went crazy thinking a trade of Baker Mayfield was on the horizon.
Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk has since confirmed that the post was completely fake.
“Quandre Diggs wears No. 6 for the Seahawks, currently. So someone changed (but not completely) the information on the page for ordering a Quandre Diggs jersey to make it look like a Mayfield jersey.
That’s the dynamic that made us instantly skeptical of the claim. Because Diggs already has No. 6, the Seahawks wouldn’t instantly launch a page to order a Mayfield jersey with No. 6 on it. He may not even end up with No. 6, if he even ends up on the team. If he does, it wouldn’t be immediate, requiring them to do what the Jaguars did last year when Tim Tebow was on the team (no, it wasn’t a fever dream) and the Jaguars sold jerseys without a number assigned to it.”
The 27-year-old play-caller has aired his wish to be traded to another team due to the pursuing and then actually trading for Deshaun Watson. Despite the former Texans player facing a lengthy suspension for his off-the-field sexual misconduct claims, the team has zero plans of playing Mayfield in 2022, if he is still on the roster.
The Seahawks, who traded Russell Wilson to Denver this offseason, currently have a quarterback room featuring Drew Lock and Geno Smith.
