Towards the end of the 2018 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns were one of the most talked about teams as they were actually in playoff contention in late December for the first time in a long time.
That hype surrounding the team only got bigger in the off-season when they acquired Odell Beckham Jr. and other players and it had people thinking of not only a playoff appearance, but a possible Super Bowl contender.
Then, REALITY SET IN….During the first game where they got blown out by the Tennessee Titans. Fast forward to Mid-October and the team heads into their bye week at 2-4 and with a New England Patriots squad waiting for them.
NFL insider John Clayton stated on Wednesday that he believes head coach Freddie Kitchens could be fired following the 2019 season, and he even stated there were rumors that Kitchens could’ve been canned after the Browns’ loss to the Seahawks at home last weekend.
“I was there on Sunday. There was a lot of talk that Freddie Kitchens was almost fired after that Seattle loss.”
Facing an undefeated Patriots team, the Browns are staring at a 2-5 record right in the face.

However, Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey reaffirmed his commitment to coach Freddie Kitchens and quarterback Baker Mayfield on Wednesday.
“I think the team has responded really well,” Dorsey said. “I like the offensive scheme that he’s kind of developed which was on [display] in the Seattle game, by putting [Mayfield] in a really good position to move those chains.
“I think Freddie has done a really good job. I love where he is right now in terms of that first-year heading label you all try to stick with him.”
Dorsey also declared that he remains “100%” convinced of Mayfield being Cleveland’s franchise quarterback of the future.
