This week, there were heavy rumors that Baker Mayfield might join the Pittsburgh Steelers if Cleveland were to release their former star QB in the wake of the Deshaun Watson trade.
Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, NFL insider Ian Rapoport was skeptical that such a thing would happen, and while he did not refute the report, he did say they seemed “far-fetched” to him.
“I don’t know if the Baker Mayfield rumors to the Steelers are wrong. But it seems far-fetched,” Rapoport said.
The NFL insider then went on to list off a variety of reasons that the move wouldn’t make sense for Pittsburgh.
Right now, Baker Mayfield is in limbo as he awaits a trade to his next destination after the Browns made it clear he would not be with them going forward once they pursued and signed Deshaun Watson.
