I think it’s safe to say that Damar Hamlin and his entire family are in all of our thoughts and hearts today. We are all praying for his recovery, and hope that he comes out okay after an absolutely terrifying ordeal on Monday Night Football. Nick Foles had another scary injury, where it seemed like he could have been convulsing after a sack, but was able to walk to the sidelines with only a rib injury. Let’s continue to keep Damar Hamlin in our thoughts as we dive into the NFL Injury Report Week 18.
Damar Hamlin Update
Safety for the Bills, Damar Hamlin, is sedated and in critical condition after suffering cardiac arrest mid-game on Monday night. When it comes to cardiac arrest, time is everything. Medical staff immediately started CPR after tending to him on the field, and an AED was able to restart his heart, though he was not breathing for himself. It took more than 15 minutes from the time Hamlin collapsed to when he was finally taken off of the field. His mother was at the game and rode with him in the ambulance to a Cincinnati hospital.
As of 10:30 AM on Tuesday, his marketing representative, Jordan Rooney, gave an update saying that Damar’s vitals are back to ‘normal’, but that he is still intubated. The question that doctors will be looking into now is why did this happen, and how long were his brain and organs deprived of blood and oxygen before the medical staff was able to revive him. Knowing this information will help them better determine his prognosis. We will continue to pray for him.
Tua Tagovailoa Update
Tua did not play in Week 17 after sustaining another concussion, potentially his third of the season (the first was undiagnosed). Mike McDaniel has pretty much ruled Tua out for Sunday’s matchup against the Jets, saying that Tua isn’t even a part of their game plan. This comes as good news to everyone who has been concerned with how his multiple concussions will affect his overall health long term.
Nick Foles Injury Update
Nick Foles was sacked by Kayvon Thibodeaux, causing Foles to twitch on the ground, writhing in pain. Many thought that he could be convulsing, but after a few minutes, he was able to walk to the sideline and was carted to the locker room for further evaluation. He was ruled out for the rest of the game with a ‘rib injury’. Interm coach Jeff Saturday announced on Monday that Nick is still in a lot of pain and that he will not play in Week 18. Is his rib fractured? Did the injury affect any organs like his lungs? This information will help us get a better idea of whether or not he will be able to play after this week.

Dak Prescott Injury Update
Dak suffered a mild right knee hyperextension injury in Week 17 against the Tennessee Titans. He was able to continue playing, and the Cowboys seem pretty nonchalant about it. Dak Prescott did not play great in the remainder of the game, and his goal for week 18 will be to decrease his team’s turnovers in order to beat the Washington Commanders.
Robbie Anderson Injury Update
Robbie Anderson left the game in Week 17 with a back injury and did not return. It remains to be seen if he will be able to suit up in Week 18, but his loss won’t hold the Cardinals back too much if he can not.
Jakobi Meyers Injury Update
Jakobi Meyers left the Patriots game after an apparent shoulder injury but told reporters that he should be good to go next week Vs Buffalo. It remains to be determined when that game will actually be played, as Buffalo needs to finish their game against Cincinnati since it was stopped due to the horrifying cardiac arrest of Damar Hamlin.
Skyy Moore Injury Update
The Chief’s rookie receiver left the game on Sunday after a hand laceration on the palm of his hand. There are no new updates on his status as of right now, and he will need to be watched this week to see if he can suit up against the Raiders on Saturday, Jan 7th.
Mecole Hardman Update
Mecole Hardman suffered an abdominal injury in Week 9 that has kept him on IR for most of the season. His 21-day window to be activated will expire this Wednesday, so all eyes will be on the Chiefs to see if he gets taken off of IR or not.
Injured Players That Will Likely Play This Week
Deebo Samuel practiced with the 49ers prior to Week 17, but did not suit up for the game. He is dealing with an ankle/foot injury, and with the 49er’s opportunity to be the overall number-one seed, if they win and Phili loses, Samuel might just return for their final regular season game.
James Conner of the Arizona Cardinals is day-to-day after dealing with a shin injury. X-rays ruled out any significant sidelining injuries, so it will be up to him and the medical staff to see if he gets cleared to play.
Tony Pollard of the Dallas Cowboys will be returning to practice on Wednesday, per head coach Mike McCarthy. They are expecting him to play in the final game of the season.
Derrick Henry will be back to the field after dealing with a hip injury. The Titans must win this game to make the playoffs, so we are expecting to see a lot of the rested running back.
Christian McCaffrey has been dealing with a mild ankle sprain. Expect to see him limited at practice this week to rest him for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.
