It’s finally Fantasy Football Championship week, and there were a few crucial injuries that need to be taken into account heading into the weekend. With another concussion for Tua and Patriots players in head-on collisions, let’s dive into the NFL Injury Report Week 17!
Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update
Tua played the entire Week 16 game but reported to team doctors that he was having concussion symptoms after the game. This is the third time this year that he has suffered a concussion. Knowing what we know about CTE and its potential devesting long-term effects, I can’t imagine any team doctor clearing him to play this Sunday. If he remains sidelined, which we hope he does for his own well-being, Teddy Bridgewater will be the starter.
Jalen Hurts Injury Update
Hurts is still out with a shoulder injury, but the Eagles might need him to clinch the NFC East. He has had a full week of rest, but will that be enough time to make him a possible starter again? Head coach Nick Sirianni said Monday that he hasn’t ruled Hurts out to play on Sunday against the Saints. If he does not play, Gardner Minshew will be the QB and showed promise at the position in the last game.
Lamar Jackson Injury Update
Lamar Jackson went down with a PCL sprain in Week 13, and has been rehabilitating since. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said “we’ll just have to see” when questioned about his return to practice this week. Tyler Huntley hasn’t done a great job of getting the offense going, but the Steeler’s defense has allowed the 12th-most fantasy points to QB’s this season, so either Huntley or Jackson could be a feasible option, with Jackson being the obviously better choice for fantasy owners.
Mike White Injury Update
Mike White has already been announced as the Jets starter ahead of Week 17. Fans are pretty obviously upset about Zach Wilson’s sub-par performances, and he will return to the bench as White’s backup. They fell to 7-8 after losing to the Jaguars this past week, and Wilson ended up being benched in favor of Chris Streveler. The Jets have their sights set on the postseason, so White’s start is going to be huge for them.
Derrick Henry Injury Update
Derrick Henry was listed as DNP on Monday’s practice report. Could the Titans just be resting him after he has been dealing with a hip injury, or is it more serious? We will have to stay up to date on their practice reports to know for sure. If Tennessee chooses to keep him out for Week 17, and they lose, they will still have the chance to win the division by beating Jacksonville in Week 18.

Jamaal Williams Injury Update
Jamaal Williams left the Week 16 game with an apparent leg injury, and only saw 24% of snaps. He limped to the sideline and did not return to the game. Since the Lions were trailing by a lot, there is a chance that staff made the decision to keep him out of the game as a precaution, but we will need to stay up to date on the practice report this week to know for sure. If he is indeed out for Week 17 against Chicago, Swift and Jackson will see an increase in snaps.
Deebo Samuel Injury Update
Deebo Samuel has been reported to be making good progress in his rehabilitation of an ankle and knee injury. Coach Kyle Shanahan said he could be returning to practice this week, which would be big for the 49ers. They have won eight-straight games atop the NFC West, and Samuel would be a reinforcement for more victories.
Tyler Lockett Injury Update
Lockett broke his finger and has been out since Week 15 to recover from surgery. Apparently, the surgery went very well, as Head Coach Pete Carrol said there is a possibility that he will play against the Jets in Week 17, according to Sports Illustrated. He is still questionable, and how he does during practice this week will make all the difference. He was greatly missed in their loss to the Chiefs last week.
Hunter Henry Injury Update
After just three snaps, Hunter Henry collided with Jonnu Smith during the Patriots loss to the Bengals. He has been deemed “day-to-day” with a knee injury. He is the Patriots number one tight end, and losing him in week 17 would be a huge loss to the Patriots who desperately need to win the next two games. Jonnu Smith left the game later with a concussion, and there is also a chance that he might not be ready to play in Week 17. A loss this week means the team is eliminated from playoff contention.
