There are three options surrounding Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers: Return to Green Bay, get traded or retire altogether.
The four-time league MVP has yet to announce if he plans to return for his age 39/40 season. Rodgers signed a three-year contract extension worth $150.8 million last offseason but recent reports have indicated that the Packers may shop the future Hall of Famer.
NFL insider Jason La Canfora of The Washington Post spoke to one NFL general manager who predicted a surprise landing spot for the Super Bowl 45 champion and MVP.
“If (Tom) Brady is in San Francisco, then I think Rodgers goes to Vegas. I don’t see him in New York (with the Jets).”
So if Brady were to join the 49ers, or another team not named the Raiders, Las Vegas could definitely emerge as the front-runner for A-Rod. Rodgers’ ex-Green Bay teammate, Davante Adams, was traded to Las Vegas last offseason, for starters. Throw in Hunter Renfrow, Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller, and Rodgers wouldn’t be short on weapons.
Green Bay traded up to draft Jordan Love in 2020, so the organization has clearly been thinking about life without Rodgers for quite some time now. We’ll just have to wait and see how things play out with Rodgers and the Pack over these next few weeks.
