Las Vegas Raiders superstar wide receiver Davante Adams has been fined nearly $30,000 for committing unsportsmanlike conduct towards an official last week.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Adams has been fined $29,785 for “abusive language towards” one of the officials in the Raiders-Denver Broncos game last Sunday.
The 29-year-old was given an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after expressing frustration towards an offical for not throwing a flag after he took a dangerous hit from Broncos star safety Justin Simmons. The latter wound up being hit with a $15,914 fine, as Pelissero noted.
Adams’ 15-yard penalty moved the Raiders into a tough 2nd-and-25 position, and they wound up having to punt on the possession. The game was tied 10-10 heading into the fourth quarter, and overtime was required after kickers Brandon McManus and Daniel Carlson each made field goals.
But Adams and the Raiders would get the last laugh on the Broncos in overtime. Derek Carr found a wide-open Adams for the game-winning 35-yard touchdown in the extra frame to help Vegas complete the season series sweep of the AFC West rivals.
It’s been a frustrating season for Adams and the Raiders, who were widely expected to compete for a playoff spot this year. The 2021 squad finished 10-7 and qualified for the postseason, after all.

The arrivals of Adams (acquired via trade with the Green Bay Packers) and superstar pass rusher Chandler Jones (signed in free agency) were widely expected to help Las Vegas close the gap on the Kansas City Chiefs in the division.
Adams has certainly done his part for the Raiders, racking up 64 receptions for 925 yards and 10 touchdowns in 10 games. He’s on the verge of recording his third straight 1,000-yard season, as well as his fourth in five years.
Adams and the Raiders will try to build off last Sunday’s big win against Denver when they visit the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.
