Zach Wilson now truly knows he will not to the field in 2023 unless an injury occurs to the actual starting quarterback.
Zach Wilson will go from a No. 2 pick to No. 2 on the quarterback depth chart after the team traded for Aaron Rodgers.
It’s clear at this point that Wilson was not able to suit up on Day 1 and be a capable starting quarterback in the NFL, but now nobody is expecting him to do that with Rodgers in town.
Once the news came down, fans took to Twitter and roasted him.

A trade for Rodgers could benefit Wilson. Wilson, who will be 24 in August, has been open publicly that he idolized Rodgers growing up and has studied his film to attempt to add some of Rodgers’ game to his own. During the summer of 2021, they hung out during the Jets-Packers joint practice.
There is a chance that Rodgers, at age 39, lasts only one season in New York, which would give Wilson a chance to breathe in 2023 before getting thrown back into the fire in 2024.
Wilson showed up to the beginning of voluntary workouts and has kept a low profile during the offseason. That wasn’t an option last year after his ex-girlfriend outed him for sleeping with his mom’s best friend.
Despite the trade halting his career, it could ultimately turn everything around for him going forward.
