Sam Darnold may want to look up the definition of ‘proved,’ because it does not mean what he thinks it does after his latest statement.
Darnold is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers in 2022, but that doesn’t mean he was their first choice. The franchise made it no secret they were going after Deshaun Watson, but ultimately lost out to the Cleveland Browns.
Despite everything said and done, Darnold remains confident in his ability to produce. Joining the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast with Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan, Darnold didn’t seem concerned about the Panthers’ search to replace him.
“It truly is, and this is where you’re not gonna believe what I say, but just bear with me,” he said. “It truly is like whatever happens happens, because at the end of the day, it’s out of my control, and I know that. I have enough security in myself to where I can be like, ‘I know I’m a good quarterback. I know I can be a good quarterback in this league. I’ve proved it.’ And I know there’s a team, if something happens, that would want me.”
In 2021 in Carolina, Sam Darnold threw for 2527 yards, nine touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in 12 games played. He also rushed for 222 yards and five touchdowns.
